UPDATE

Frontage road south of County Road 32 stays closed in CDOT schedule for October 4 to 10

CDOT's traffic list for the week of October 4 to 10 shows a full closure of the east Interstate 25 frontage road south of Weld County Road 32, ongoing through Friday of that week. The project page says the road will be closed "Sunday through Friday, at 5 p.m." while crews mill, repave and stripe it between WCR 32 and Camelot Circle.

CDOT lists Weld County roads 34, 9.5, 13, 30 and 32 for alternate access. Access to nearby businesses will be maintained and speed limit reductions will be posted.

Separately, the frontage road between WCR 36 and 38 will be reduced to one alternating lane, controlled by flaggers, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for erosion-control work.

On Thursday, October 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the northbound I-25 off-ramp to WCR 34 will close for a traffic switch onto the new off-ramp. Drivers will continue to Colorado Highway 56 (exit 250) and turn around. CDOT says all work is weather dependent.

BACKGROUNDBerthoud

Berthoud has already fielded data-center siting requests

Berthoud has answered requests about possible data-center sites, the Berthoud Weekly Surveyor reported May 20. Town Administrator Chris Kirk wrote that the Turion site, which straddles Berthoud and Mead east of Interstate 25, is the most realistic location in town for a large data center.

Kirk also told the Surveyor that a large data center would require major power infrastructure upgrades from Xcel. The report described siting inquiries, not a proposed or approved project.

Trustees approved an emergency ordinance on September 22 temporarily suspending applications for large data centers. That issue is followed in Still Developing.
