Flood Watch includes eastern and higher-elevation portions of the Parker area

The National Weather Service placed the eastern and higher-elevation portions of central and eastern Douglas County above 6,000 feet under a Flood Watch from midnight Wednesday, September 30, through noon Thursday, October 1. The NWS point forecast 3 miles northeast of Parker is at 6,076 feet and lies in the affected forecast zone. The watch does not mean every part of Parker is under identical risk.

The Weather Service says tropical moisture and an approaching storm system may produce 1 to 2.5 inches of rain in the watch area, with locally higher amounts possible. Excessive runoff could flood rivers, creeks, streams, low-lying areas and other flood-prone locations. Residents should monitor later forecasts, prepare to act if Flood Warnings are issued and avoid driving across flooded roads.

UPDATE

Parker 2050 reached the Town Council adoption agenda, but the public record does not yet confirm the outcome

Resolution No. 26-060, which would adopt the Parker 2050 Comprehensive Plan, appeared on the September 21 Town Council agenda after the Town announced September adoption hearings. The official Parker 2050 page still describes the plan as “moving forward for adoption,” and the CivicClerk record currently shows an agenda, packet and presentation but no posted minutes or signed result. The latest confirmed status is therefore that the adoption resolution was considered. Whether Council approved it, amended it or deferred it remains unresolved.

Flexential is building a 249,000-square-foot, 22.5-megawatt data center in Parker. The company describes the facility as high-density and liquid-cooling-ready, with connectivity designed for AI and machine-learning workloads.

Parker police budget includes expansion of its Flock license-plate-reader system

Parker’s adopted 2026 budget includes $55,600 for enhancements to the Police Department’s Flock Safety license-plate-reader system. The budget describes the project as part of the town’s technology-management allocation.

That means automated vehicle-identification technology is already an established Parker police system with additional spending approved, separate from newer proposals involving drones and other plate-reader equipment.

  • Agency: Parker Police Department
NEWParker

Parker is considering drone first response and a second plate-reader platform

In August 2026, Parker Town Council reviewed a proposed public-safety technology package that would add a Drone as First Responder program using Skydio aircraft and Axon automated license-plate readers.

No purchase decision had been made at the study session. Police officials presented the technology as a possible way to improve response times, officer safety and staffing efficiency, so this remains a proposal to watch rather than an adopted deployment.

  • Council review: August 24, 2026

The study session reviewed the proposal without a purchase decision.
