UPDATE

Pine Drive closes between Ponderosa and Lincoln as early as today

Douglas County says Pine Drive could close to through traffic between Ponderosa Drive and Lincoln Avenue as early as 7 a.m. today, Monday, October 26, so crews can install a new 96-inch drainage pipe beneath the road. The closure is expected to last about two weeks, with the road open on Sundays.

The detour uses Ponderosa Drive, Colorado 83 (Parker Road) and Lincoln Avenue. The county says access to local homes and businesses will be maintained, the Pine Drive intersections at Ponderosa Drive and Lincoln Avenue will stay open, and the schedule depends on weather and site conditions.

Traffic has shifted on Ponderosa Drive, east of Pine Drive, with more construction activity at the northeast corner of the Ponderosa and Pine intersection. Pine Lane remains one-way, westbound only, between Pine Drive and Dixon Drive; eastbound drivers are detoured at Colorado 83 to Lincoln Avenue or Ponderosa Drive. Access continues to Sierra Middle School and AdventHealth Parker, and the speed limit through the project is 30 mph.

County project update: October 23, 2026.

Council to review a policy letting community nonprofits use Town Hall meeting rooms

Parker Town Council is set to review a proposed policy at its study session at 5 p.m. today, Monday, October 26, that would let eligible nonprofit groups reserve two Town Hall meeting rooms. The policy is proposed and has not been adopted.

Under the draft, groups based in Douglas County or serving county residents through educational, civic or cultural activities could reserve the Antelope Creek room, which holds 10 people, or the Pikes Peak room, which holds 36, without a rental fee during business hours, with Town business taking priority. Meetings outside business hours would need special approval and payment for staffing and security.

The draft would bar commercial events, private parties, fundraising and campaign activities. A staff memo says free use of Town Hall rooms may take some rental business away from the PACE Center. The same study session agenda includes an E-470 update, a Parker Senior Center update and the 2027 budget.

CHSAA puts Lutheran High School athletics on probation, warns of possible suspension

The Colorado High School Activities Association has placed the athletic department at Lutheran High School, a private Christian school in Parker, on probation for at least 12 months, Denver7 reported October 15. CHSAA said it acted after determining that racist and discriminatory language and unacceptable behavior occurred at Lutheran athletic events, according to Denver7.

Denver7 reported that the incidents involved Lutheran's games against Sand Creek High School on September 24 and Rampart High School on October 2 and 3.

Lutheran must complete a corrective action plan covering game management, spectator conduct, staff training and school culture. If it does not meet those requirements, CHSAA will recommend that its Board of Directors suspend the school's membership, according to Denver7.

In a statement to families obtained by Denver7, Lutheran executive director Dan Gehrke said the school "condemns racism in any form" and will complete "every requirement CHSAA has set." He also said, "We are disappointed that CHSAA reached its determination before our own review is complete and before it could consider our findings."
