Flood Watch covers Central Oʻahu through early Thursday, October 29

The National Weather Service has a Flood Watch in effect for all main Hawaiian Islands, including Central Oʻahu, from Tuesday morning, October 27, through late Wednesday night. The watch is set to end at 5 a.m. Thursday, October 29.

The weather service says a trough moving over the state from the southwest is bringing tropical moisture, with heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms that could cause flash flooding. It says the greatest flood threat is over Oʻahu and Maui County.

The watch warns that streams and drainages may overflow, some roads may close and landslides may occur on steep terrain. The weather service advises following later forecasts and being ready to act if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.
